The Chevrolet Equinox EV is a battery electric compact crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors under the Chevrolet brand since 2024. It was introduced in January 2022 in a set of images at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and was planned to go on sale in the fall of 2023 for the 2024 model year. The Equinox EV features a design and underpinnings different from the ICE-powered Equinox.[2]
Overview[edit]
During its introduction, General Motors stated that it will have a starting price of around US$30,000 in the United States and will be offered in LT and RS trim levels. The Equinox EV will be equipped with GM Ultium batteries shared with other GM battery electric vehicles. The larger Chevrolet Blazer EV will launch before the Equinox EV, in spring 2023.[3][4]
Trim levels were detailed in September 2022. The base 1LT trim will have an estimated range of 250mi (400km), and produce 210hp (213PS; 157kW) and 242lbft (328Nm; 33.5kgm) torque. A larger battery with 300mi (480km) range will be optional on the 1LT, and standard on 2LT, 3LT, and RS. All trim levels will offer optional eAWD with dual motors producing 290hp (294PS; 216kW) and 346lbft (469Nm; 47.8kgm) torque, with an estimated range of 280mi (450km). A V2L (vehicle-to-load) system will be optional for the 3RS trim level.[1]
Cargo space is rated at 57.2cuft (1,620L), nearly 7 cubic-feet less than the ICE-powered Equinox due to its sleeker exterior design. No front cargo space ("frunk") is available, the hood houses front drive unit and other electronics instead.[1]

2024 Chevy Equinox EV Unveiled As A Sportier All-Electric SUV

The all-new 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV is the latest new model to join Chevrolets growing EV lineup.
The new electric crossover SUV comes just a few months after General Motors showed off the 2024 Chevy Blazer EVits bigger sibling. The Equinox is one of Chevys best-sellers, placing just behind the Silverado pickup truck in annual sales. (The Silverado also has an electric version expected to arrive at the end of 2023).
While it borrows its name and some design cues from the gasoline-powered Equinox compact SUV, the electric version will be powered by GMs Ultium battery platform, much like the larger Blazer EV, not to mention halo vehicles including the Cadillac Lyriq and GMC Hummer EV. (Chevys other EV options, the Bolt EV and EUV, run on a previous battery system.) It has a noticeably electric look especially on the front end with a grille reminiscent of the newer Bolts.
With up to 300-mile range and two battery size options and an affordable starting price of around $30,000, the smaller SUV hopes to bring more people into the electric fold beyond Chevy Bolt customers.

New Electric Look
Chevy designers called the new EVs look an expressive design influenced by 1960s Americana on a wider, longer and lower base optimized for the battery that sits low in the vehicles chassis. A two-toned roof option highlights the wider brow line.
A noticeably shorter overhang and a solid front grille telegraphs its electric pedigree. The electric Equinox is 9 inches longer and 3 inches wider than the gas Equinox thanks to the Ultium battery layout. The lines along the side panels, (and therefore the focal point) are different from the gas version and the doors feature flush handles. Its a more aerodynamic vehicle with a sportier look and more athletic-looking stance than the original Equinox but maintains its visual appeal as a family-friendly SUV.

New Electric Power and Fast Charging
The standard front-wheel-drive system provides 210 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque. A dual-motor all-wheel drive version ups the output to 290-horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque.
Chevy hasnt shared specific battery capacity information, but says the standard battery on the base version will eventually join a larger capacity battery with longer range.
The Equinox EV will be fast-charging capable, meaning it can add up to 70 miles of range in 10 minutes. The standard charging rate will add 34 miles in an hour.

Trims, Trims and More Trims
The Equinox EV will have plenty of options, starting with LT or RS trim levels. The LT will have black with blue interior or gray, while RS offers black with red or an all red interior.
The base 1LT on a smaller battery will have FWD system standard and 250-mile range. A bigger battery-equipped 1LT will offer 280- or 300-mile range, depending on FWD or AWD.
The trims continue with 2LT, 2RS (plus a special launch edition 2RS version), 3LT and 3RS with the top trims riding on 21-inch aluminum wheels. On 2LT and 2RS, a white or black roof is available, respectively, for more of a throw-back two-toned experience.

Technology Throughout
Like the Blazer EV, the Equinox EV will use GMs new Ultifi electrical system to run software and infotainment options.
On all trims above 1LT, General Motors Super Cruise hands-free driving system will be available, along with a 17.7-inch touchscreen and head-up display. The base will have an 11-inch screen.
Safety and convenience features come standard on the higher trims, beyond available Super Cruise driving assist on highways, with adaptive cruise control, HD surround cameras, a power liftgate and heated seats.

Equinox EV Arrival and Price
The Equinox EV will debut in the fall of 2023 with a limited-edition 2RS. The sportier version will be followed by other top trims before the 1LT arrives with the base battery pack. The base 1LT starts around $30,000 with pricing increasing along the trims, but detailed pricing is not yet available.
All Equinox EVs will be assembled at GMs Ramos Arizpe facility in Mexico, which qualifies it (along with its sub-$55,000 retail price) for the new federal tax credit for electric cars, which is worth $7,500.
Ordering and pricing information will be announced closer to production.

General Motors revealed its latest electric pickup truck on Wednesday at CES 2022. But the Silverado EV isn't the only new electric vehicle GM announced.
The automaker took the wraps off of its upcoming Chevrolet Equinox EV, a small electric SUV that will cost around $30,000 in its base configuration. The Equinox EV will bring another low-cost, electric option to the country's most popular vehicle segment: compact SUVs.
It's not that $30,000 is a small amount of money it isn't. But historically, making the switch from a gas-powered vehicle to an electric one often meant buying something expensive, like a Tesla. The Equinox EV and similarly priced electric SUVs like the Hyundai Kona Electric and Chevy Bolt EUV should make going electric more palatable and accessible to more people.
GM didn't offer many details about the Equinox EV. The SUV will be available in both fleet and retail versions, have RS and LT trims, and use GM's new Ultium battery platform. Judging by the photos GM shared, we can see that the Equinox EV will have a large touchscreen and a second driver-facing display. A slim light bar stretches across the SUV's front end.
The Equinox EV will launch in fall 2023, and we'll learn more about the model's range and other details closer to that date. GM also confirmed that an electric version of the Blazer SUV named, you guessed it, the Blazer EV will be available in spring 2023.
GM plans to phase out sales of combustion vehicles by 2035, and it's launching a slew of EVs across its brands to make that happen. The GMC Hummer EV pickup truck went into production in December, the Chevy Silverado EV arrives in 2023, and the Cadillac Lyriq ships out this year.
